The Good Earth Series

Introducing The Good Earth Series - a contemplative exploration of our fragile connection to the natural world and the profound truths it holds.
What distinguishes these paintings is my use of Oamaru stone to create texture and deepen the connection between the earth and the viewer.
I crush and grind the stone, then mix it with acrylic and binding agents so the material itself becomes physically present on the surface.
These works are not traditional landscapes but emotional terrains built from real earth. The stone carries movement and energy across each composition. It reflects my journey across cultures and the places I carry within me. This creates a thread between people, place, and identity that feels both physical and personal.
The rough textures and tensions mirror the imbalance and instability of our time. The earth speaks through these surfaces with friction and urgency. Yet the crushed stone also transforms, suggesting renewal and the possibility of change.
